Prep Weeks - Part 1

Hello again :)

Almost two month ago, I wrote and published my first, or better, my first two posts on this blog explaining what this little webspace will be about.

Well now I can finally tell you a little bit more about what’s going on right now, because a lot of stuff happened since then.

I found a host family – YEEHAA :D
I am SUPER happy to have found a lovely single host mom with two kids.
I’ve only met them on Skype so far (well, how else?) but I already think we will have a great time together and I’m really looking forward to finally meeting them in person.
The two kiddies are adorable and I think my host mom and I will get along great.

Also my departure has been scheduled earlier so I will now be leaving on 25th of August 2014 to live with them in a small house in Chestnut Hill, MA.

I can’t believe this is really happening.
This was my third match and to be honest, I didn’t expect to find a fitting family so fast.
Two weeks have passed since the time we agreed that I will be their au pair and only a couple of days ago it hit me: I WILL BE LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR ONE YEAR!
I am beyond grateful to have this opportunity, but I also slowly begin to realize that this also means I won’t be seeing my friends and family for that amount of time. Of course I knew this before, but it almost is, as if I just hid that thought in the back of my mind until now.
I will miss them like crazy, but I am SO looking forward to this experience – meeting new people and hopefully friends, living with my awesome host family and getting to know the real American way of life.

Currently I’m still doing some paperwork for the agency, trying to find a new tenant for my room, enjoying Easter holidays at home, counting the days (134) until my plane takes off and playing with the flag.

Will update you again as soon as something exciting happens :D

I hope you all have a great time.
Until then, yours truly

Trish :)
