Heeeeello? Can you hear me? Is it working from this far away?
Yes, after a very VERY long day on Monday, we made it to the training school and are now ready to start our second day here at St. Johns College. But our journey was not as simple as it could have been.
Were to start?
Our flight left Vienna at 10:25am.
We had a whole row just for us four and we had a no one behind us, so we could adjust our seats without disturbing anyone. Well, we were not "disturb free", but that's just how it is on long flights.
We landed half an hour early in Washington/Dulles, which we were so excited about, but from this point on, everything went downwards.
We found out, that we had to get our luggage, get it and ourselves through customs, check it in again, get our boarding pass and go to the next flight in three hours.
We already imagined us with big cups of coffee and something from Dunkin' Donuts, but then came Air China and all our plans were ruined.
It took us ages to even get to baggage claim, then our luggage was not here, because they thought they will check it through and didn't think we had to get it through customs. It took them half an hour to get our bags where we needed them, hurried through customs and security check (we got the fast lane, were you do not have to unpack your cabin baggage) and after the help of a lovely man in a Kilt and a crew member that ignored the "boarding closed" sign behind him, we hopped on the plane just before they closed the doors.
Couldn't get worse from this point on...
Ohhh yes, it can!
We could have waited for ages for our luggage at Newark Airport, because it was still in Washington.
At first the nice lady behind the counter told us our luggage was still in Vienna, which was weird since WE brought it through customs. But they finally found out that it is still in Washington and they will send it to our hostfamilies.
Half angry, half crying, half death (and yes, I know this doesn't work out, but "third" sounds off) our driver finally found us.
We waited for another group of girls to arrive before we hit the road.
I actually thought it will take us about 30-45 minutes to get to the training school, that's why Carmen, Katharine and I were in a total party mood and sang and danced the whole time on the bus, until we realized that it would take us much longer to get to where we should be and fell asleep :D
After almost two hours, we finally arrived at the training school.
So far I can say: the beds are horrible, the food has its ups and downs and the building is GORGEOUS..but more on that later.
:)
